You pay for a mic and optional camera (or have it already installed on your computer), and pay nothing else to make computer-to-computer calls from anywhere to anywhere. I LOVE Skype (I'm just bethtait). I've just gotten addicted and it is amazing b/c I can talk to my mom and best girlfriends from across the country. They get to see my kids and it is so interactive that I don't feel guilty "talking on the phone" with Tyler around. The other day he was even playing with his cousin Clara through Skype. They would both jump around and laugh. It was awesome.
