The Birds & The Bees

That title got your attention, didn't it?

Spring is in full bloom here. It's beautiful. I want to start going on walks with my camera so that I can properly document how gorgeous it is but for now, here are observations from our study window as seen through my fantastic zoom lens.

The view out the window. Please ignore our poor, neglected lawn. We've been so focused on getting the inside all settled that we've forgotten we even have a backyard. Looks like the mower and RoundUp and I have a date this week.
We've been told this is an apple tree that will produce so much fruit that the neighbors will come a'knocking in hopes we feel like sharing. I can't wait! Homemade applesauce and apple pie, here I come!
When the wind blows, these white little fluffy nature bits fill the air. It was really hard to get a good shot but you get the point. I think these are a major contributor in our recent allergy problems.

I love to open the windows during the day but since we have no screens, we get all kids of visitors. A frequent find are these little guys. They are so huge (this one is as big as a quarter and this is after he's dead and shriveled) that we are getting better at hearing them coming so we can shut the window before they actually get inside. We are also finding spiders inside. Time to invest in some bug spray.

There are tons of birds that fly around our neighborhood. Just today I've counted 4 or 5 different kinds. And they sing the most perfect little songs. There is one bird that starts his chirping promptly at 6:30 every night. These pictures were all taken on the same day and I wasn't even fast enough to photograph the little ones.

Our favorite birds are these guys. I happened to see this single guy way out on that limb by himself. Then he flew over to another tree and met up with his pals. When we were taking these pictures, we only saw 2 but when I was uploading them to the computer I realized there were 3 of them! Who knew that parrots lived in the wild in England? Apparently, they did.

Can you spot all 3 of them?

P.S. Still no sign of all that rain people kept warning us about. Maybe it comes during the summer? Not that we mind all the sun and cool breezes...

Isn't nature the best? I think those black and white birds are orioles, although I might be mistaken. The gray one looks like a dove to me. I bet the parakeets are the great-grandchildren of some escaped pets.
Don't forget to dead-head your roses if you want them to bloom well this spring/summer.
You might want to set up some pots on your patio to grow some veggies. Veggie gardening is the best and so delicious and easy to do. Check out www.yougrowgirl.com for helpful hints on urban container gardening. She's in Toronto which is pretty similar climate-wise to the UK.
Happy spring-ing! Love ya!
P.S. the word confirmation today is brogue.

I think all the rain gets dumped up north and London stays semi-dry!

Sounds absolutely lovely (except for the spiders and bugs)! Do they use the word lovely over there a lot?
