Last night we went to the baptism for a girl who I used to teach in Primary. Her mom is also a friend. Lizzy was so cute in her white dress and bows in her hair. What a big day for her!
It reminded me of my baptism. Some highlights:
- I was REALLY sick with the stomach flu and had a high fever.
- I spent the night before sleeping on the floor of the bathroom because it was easier than getting up and running, hoping I'd make it. (I was wearing my hot pink Barbie nightgown)
- It was on my actual 8th birthday.
- My Grandma Black flew down from UT and I got her and my baby brother sick.
- My step-brother Curtis, waited 3 months after his July birthday to get baptized so that we could do it the same day.
- I was baptized in the same dress as my sisters.
- There were 5 kids to be baptized. I was supposed to go first but since I was sick, I went last.
- The water was deliciously warm.
- I was really worried my dress would float up in the water. It didn't.
- The baptism itself went off without a hitch, it was not my dad's first time.
- I was freezing in the bathroom afterward while my step-mom was helping me get dried off and dressed and hair curled.
- During my confirmation, I warmed up.
- My neighbors came, even though they weren't members of the church.
- I was so excited to be an official member of the church.
- Despite the obvious problems, it was a great day!

Emily, look at you with that big bow and those glasses and that curly hair. You are an adorable little girl! I think that's really cool you still have the program and remember all that. I myself don't remember much of my baptism, so I think it's cool you have such a good memory and all those pictures.
I can't believe you still have your program! It was so great that you were there last night.
Love this post!
Aw, look at cute little you! :) Our baptism day was crazy, too. It was my brother, my mom and I, and I was 11... They had to dunk me twice because my long hair floated up. :) I think it's great you can remember so much about it, and it was obviously a special day. Love it.
