I'm baaack!

I have returned from my sabbatical in Fresno. The piano is finished (thank goodness!) and I will blog about that when I have it in my possession. In the mean time, let me fill you in on what's been going on with us for the past week.

Camping was really great. As mentioned in a previous post, we love camping. This year was no exception.

The highlights:

Hanging out with my parents, brother & his family.

Playing games.
Tasty food. Bob is an amazing cook, especially over a fire.
A hike with my hubby.
Driving out to the docks and the dam with mom and Bob.
The scenery (including this weird yellow fungus thingy growing on a tree stump by our tent).
When we got back to my parent's house on Monday, we sanded on the piano for a few hours, went to dinner, then Brent went home with out me.

All week during the day I'd work on the piano, and at night I'd hang out with my mom. We watched movies/tv and talked and giggled. It was really nice. It felt kind of like when I was back in school and I'd stay with her all summer long. It was a nice week.

Brent's week here at home by himself consisted of working, studying, watching the US Open, covering for me as apartment manager (it was rent week and new tenants had a lease to sign) organizing the Proposition 8 walk for our zip code, getting the funeral/dressing details worked out for his home teach-y that passed away, cooking for himself, and melting a pan lid in the microwave while trying to make rice-a-roni (he forgot there was a metal screw holding on the handle). He survived but I'm sure he's glad to have me back to do half of the stuff that gets done around here. What a trooper!

Brent came up on Saturday afternoon and that evening we went to Tiffani's house for a birthday party for Gideon because he turned 2 on the 1st. Mom and I made a really cute Cookie Monster cake for him. I got the idea from my friend Hannah's blog. Gideon loved it.
We played Settler's of Catan with Tiff , Richard and the older kids and we spent lots of time holding brand new little Sam. So little. So cute.
Sunday was Sam's blessing which was very nice. With Richard being the bishop of their ward, Tiff's going to have her hands full every Sunday! It took 4+ adults to keep track of all 6 kids during sacrament meeting. Good thing some of Richard's family is in their ward, they can help.

The Fresno temple is across the parking lot from their building so I snapped a shot or 2 of it as we were leaving. *Side note: This is where I received my endowments Nov 29, 2003.*

It was a nice trip but I am very glad to be back home with my man. Love you, baby!

That's a great cake. My brother in law had a cake like that for his birthday a few years ago... but it was store bought! so fancy!
