Good ol' Ralphs

Not that this is anything monumental to blog about but I went to my favorite grocery store today, Ralphs. For some reason, over the past couple of months I haven't been going there. Vons is much closer and I just haven't felt up to planning out a week long menu and grocery list so we've been doing "quick trips" to Von's. A lot. I missed Ralphs. I know where everything is and the store brand stuff is so cheap (relative to the fact that I do live in LA). The people are friendlier (customers & employees) and it's bigger and has much more variety in stock. For $105, I managed to get groceries for the week and several items for my food storage. I'd never be able to do that at Vons. Going back today made me feel like I was back in my old routine and maybe making my way out of the rut I've been in all summer. Who knew a simple trip to the grocery store could do that?

Oh Ralphs, what was I thinking leaving you for so long? Please forgive me.

I always go to Ralphs or TJs, but I swear when I go to Ralphs I spend a TON of money. Grrrrr.... Maybe I just need some shopping tips from you.

There has been more than once that I've been behind a Von's truck on the freeway and have felt compelled to turn to Kev and say, "Contrary to what they might have you believe, Von's is not value."

Sigh. I miss American grocery stores. Commissary of Dreams aside, America has the grocery store dealie down pat. Go America! And don't get me started on my renewed appreciation of the wonder that is Target...
